Sleep Better, Save Energy: Amazon Is Having a Flash Sale on Blackout Curtains

Blackout curtains are a great way to reduce outside light and keep heat inside. With winter coming, now is a great time to invest in a set or two for your home–think of it as upgrading your winter nesting schedule. Need more encouragement to buy? Amazon is currently having a flash sale on a variety of colors and sizes until 3:20 pm ET.

You’ll have to do a little clicking around to see what colors and sizes are on sale, but options include both long and short versions, as well as dark and light colors. While very few blackout curtains are going to be something to write home about, the light options give you the opportunity to layer with more attractive, less functional, curtains.

No matter the size or color, however, all curtains are built the same way: Matte outer layers conceal an all-black inner layer that helps filter out light as well as UV rays. Lighter colors will filter out less light overall, but the dark black offers a 99 percent reduction in light. All colors also help insulate heat as well, and even help reduce noise filtering in from outside.
