Amazon Is Selling a Cactus-Shaped Artificial Christmas Tree

There are so many ways to approach the Christmas tree. There’s the traditional live, cut evergreen; the potted tree that can live beyond the holidays; a whole range of artificial trees that look like the real thing; and, apparently, artificial trees that look like entirely different plants altogether. Meet the Christmas cactus. 

This saguaro cactus-shaped Christmas tree comes in three different sizes on Amazon: 5 feet, 6 feet, and 7 feet, depending on how towering you’d like your Christmas cactus to be. It’s made of a supposedly crush-resistant PVC so it doesn’t lose its spiky appeal while it’s in storage between holidays.

The Amazon listing claims easy assembly, and because the tree is pre-lit, once you put it together, your work is basically done. The tree also comes with a set of gold and red Christmas ornaments, a decorative yellow bow, and a metal stand with plastic end caps to avoid scratching your floor. To really commit to your theme, you can add a cactus-patterned tree skirt.

Reviews for the cactus Christmas tree, listed as Goplus Pre-Lit Artificial Cactus Christmas Tree with LED Lights and Ball Ornaments, are largely positive, with 77% in the 4 or 5 star category, including some very charming photos. Many of the reviewers say they live in the Southwest, like this one: “I moved to Arizona and clearly needed to celebrate properly. What better way to do that than with a Christmas Cactus?”

In some climates that never experience a white Christmas, a saguaro cactus almost seems more seasonally appropriate than a traditional evergreen after all.
