There are no shortage of mattresses you can buy online these days, with prices ranging from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars. But in an ever-expanding sea of competitors, one bed-in-a-box has managed to make people really happy for not a lot of money. The Zinus memory foam mattress starts at under $100 for a basic twin, but the most popular one is the 12-inch model. Typically priced $239 for a full, it's currently even cheaper. Both the queen and full models are currently under $200 on Amazon.

We first wrote about the Zinus mattress (and its devoted online following) back in January. Then, there were over 13,000 reviews—and just a few months later, there are closing in on 13,000 five-star reviews alone. (At writing, there are exactly 12,290 five-star reviews.)

A frequent feature in Amazon's gold box deals, the price alone isn't the reason people rave about the mattress. The manufacturer touts the green tea memory foam as a natural retardant to odor and bacteria, though very few of the enthusiastic reviews make much of the fact. Instead, they rave about how comfortable and durable it is, especially at that price. Some reviewers even say it's better than much, much pricier (think $1,00+) mattress they've previously owned.

A few things to keep in min before you buy a Zinus mattress: it is memory foam, which is one of the reasons it ships so easily. So if you want a more traditional, spring-y mattress, this isn't the deal for you. You also have to plan to let it rise overnight. Letting it breathe before use is a great way to get rid of any lingering factory smells and let it air out (something that we've noticed with pricier mattresses as well).

Even if you have a more expensive mattress for your own bed, the Zinus is a great buy for kids' rooms and guest rooms, and we bet your overnight guests or dependents will be any the wiser. Zinus even sells platform beds starting under $100, meaning you can easily get a new mattress, frame, and even fancy sheets, for under $500.
