Mark your calendars and start the countdown, because the summer’s biggest sale is happening soon! Amazon just announced the date of this year’s Prime Day sale, and like last year, it falls on a different date than we expected. Instead of its usual July date, Amazon Prime Day 2021 will kick off at 12 am PT/3 am ET on Monday, June 21, and end at 11:59 pm PT/2:59 am ET on Tuesday, June 22. Amazon typically unveils a ton of advance discounts leading up to the event, so you’ll want to keep a close eye on Amazon’s Deals section from now until June 21 for some early deals that are up for grabs.

What Will Be Included in Prime Day Deals?

Amazon is home to thousands of products, so you can expect to find a lot of items on sale across various categories. Last year, we saw major deals on everything from Roomba vacuums and Instant Pots to mattresses and furniture. You’ll likely find the best savings of the year on hot ticket Amazon devices, including Echo & Alexa devicesKindlesFire Tablets, and Fire Sticks. And in an effort to support small businesses, Amazon is bringing back its Prime Day Small Business Promotion: From June 7 through June 20, Prime members will receive an exclusive $10 credit to spend during Prime Day when they spend $10 on small-business products, Launchpad products, and Handmade products!

Do I Need to Be an Amazon Prime Member to Participate?

It’s true: You do need to be an Amazon Prime member to score big on Prime Day. If you haven’t signed up yet and aren’t totally sure if you want to, no worries! You can sign up for a 30-day trial and decide whether or not you want to commit once the sale is over — and you may just find it to be more than worth it. The benefits of a Prime membership are vast. You get free two-day delivery on millions of items, exclusive discounts all year long, savings at Whole Foods, and access to Amazon Original TV shows, stand-up specials, documentaries, and movies. Once the 30-day trial period is over, membership costs $12.99/month, with discounts for students, customers with an EBT or Medicaid card, or customers who opt in for a year-long subscription.
