Amazon Is Looking to Hire 3,000 Remote Employees, Some Can Even Get Benefits
Have you ever worked from home? It is pretty convenient if your job is set up to allow you to fully function from the comfort of your own living room or home office. You can even work from your bed if you’re feeling particularly cozy that day. For those who think working from home is just hanging out in your pajamas and occasionally checking your laptop, that isn’t the case. In some studies, remote employees are actually found to be more productive than in-office employees. Working from home can boost morale and lower stress, as the hassle of commuting to work is cut out of their job description.
It would seem that one major retailer has gotten the memo that telecommuting is beneficial to a work environment. According to Good Housekeeping, Amazon is looking to hire 3,000 employees who will work from home. Those who live near an Amazon Customer Service Site are in luck. If you’re worried about working from home and losing benefits, don’t. Some of these employees will even qualify for health care coverage!
The job description lists, “As an Amazon Customer Service Associate (CSA) it is a critical part of our mission to listen to the customer’s needs, deliver timely results, accurate information, personalized resolutions, and maintain our professional environment of supporting all Amazon customers.”
Amazon’s Virtual Locations:
Sometimes, Amazon has virtual (or “work-from-home”) positions available to qualified individuals who live in some areas. So if you aren’t near a physical Amazon location, or just want to see if there are virtual opportunities in your area, you’re in the right place.

The job comes with additional perks, like an employee discount at Amazon and access to the Employee Assistance Program. After 90 days of employment, remote workers will also be eligible for Amazon’s healthcare coverage. According to Amazon’s benefits website, that allows employees to, “Choose from several plans, including a Health Savings Account (with employee and employer contributions), and multiple network providers for the best care in your area. You can also enroll in Dental and Vision plans as well as a Flexible Spending Accounts for health and dependent care.”
Remote employees can expect to work between 20 to 29 hours a week, though they might work up to 60 hours during a peak season (think Cyber Monday or Amazon Prime Day). Anyone working overtime during the peak season will earn 1.5x their pay. The work-from-home employees will start out at $15/hour. Since Amazon never sleeps, shifts can include nights and weekends.
This isn’t open to every state, sadly. In order to apply, you must live within 50 miles of an Amazon Customer Service site in one of these 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi , Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, or Wyoming.
