One Of Our Favorite Affordable Roomba Alternatives Is Even Less Expensive Today On Amazon
Roomba is to robot vacuums as Tupperware is to food storage—its practically a synonym for the product. But there’s a whole world of robot vacuums out there, including many budget alternatives that might make your dream of a self-cleaning house that much easier to attain. We wrote about our favorites in our guide to robot vacuums and found some under $200 models that can get the job done.
Today, Eufy, one of our favorite budget-friendly brands, is one of Amazon’s daily deals. The model we tested back in 2018 was the 11S model, while today’s sale is on the Eufy 15C. The good news is that they are identical with one big difference: The 15C model is Wi-Fi and smart home compatible. It’s also 28 percent off at $179.99.
My house actually uses both Roomba and Eufy—my roommate, who owns the house, already had a Eufy before I moved in. We now use both (each has its own floor of the house), and I will say I’m impressed by the Eufy’s abilities. Thinner than a Roomba (and indeed most robot vacs on the market), it can feel insubstantial, but I’ve also witnessed it get onto and over rugs with high pile and between rooms, like a weather strip between a room and patio area. It also has a long run time, with up to 100 minutes between charges.
Like pricier models, the Eufy can also re-dock to charge between uses, so you never have to worry about finding a dead battery when you’re ready to clean. The slimmer body also means it can fit under bookcases, bar carts, and other pieces of furniture that might otherwise require a stand-up vacuum and a wand attachment to clean. It’s also one of the quietest models available if you anticipate wanting to clean while you’re home. In other words, there’s a lot to offer for an already low price.
In addition to the Eufy 15C, Amazon is also having a deal on the same model bundled with an Echo Dot. The savings on the vacuum are the same, and the Echo Dot is $5 less than if bought alone. Perhaps not worth upgrading for that alone, but if you already were looking to add a smaller smart home device somewhere in your room, it’s a good option.
Amazon is also having a few other Mother’s Day themed deals (though we don’t necessarily recommend getting your mom a vacuum for Mother’s Day unless she’s been heavily hinting.) In addition to a sale on pearls (a bit odd, but they are highly rated), select skincare and electric toothbrushes are also marked down. Again, not every mom wants an antiaging serum on Sunday, so maybe just get a new toothbrush for yourself and check out our own Mother’s Day gift guide instead.
