Move Over, Waterbeds: Here’s Why Amazon Shoppers Are Obsessed with Water Pillows
Waterbeds are back in a big way (well, kind of). You’ve heard about the iconic waterbed that literally made waves several decades ago, but now the waterbed has morphed into something a bit less splashy yet still beneficial for those who suffer from stiffness while sleeping. Water pillows are now a thing and people online are raving about the benefits of resting on water.
Currently, a highly-rated water pillow on Amazon is the Mediflow Fiber, touted as the “first and original.” The 100 percent cotton-covered pillow contains “water base technology” and the company sites an independent John Hopkins study that says it can “reduce neck pain and improve overall quality of sleep.”
One five-star reviewer said that they were pain-free after two nights of sleeping on the Mediflow Water Pillow. “I filled mine with 10 cups of lukewarm tap water (so the pillow isn’t cold as one person said) and removed the air as instructed, then put the cap on (which removes any leaking problems). I put a regular pillowcase on it and was done. This is by far the best pillow anyone could want,” they wrote.
And another five-star reviewer, who says they’re an emergency room doctor “suffering from worsening cervical radiculopathy over the last 6 months.” They wrote, “After two nights the pain was markedly better, and after a month the nerve pains shooting down my arm stopped completely.”
Whether you’ve had experiences with waterbeds in the past, now might be the time to give a water pillow a shot. Your aching neck and shoulders might thank you.
