Amazon’s New Service Lets You Try On Clothes Before You Buy Them
Have you ever shopped for clothes on Amazon? The retail giant wants to make it even easier with their new Prime Wardrobe, a service that lets you order apparel and try it on at home before you lay down that credit card.
Prime Wardrobe includes men’s, women’s, and kid’s clothing, shoes, and accessories from both popular department store brands and Amazon’s in house fashion labels.
Here’s how it works: When you’re browsing Amazon Fashion, look for the Prime Wardrobe logo—there are over one million pieces that can be added to your box. Once you have three or more items, Amazon will ship them for free, and you have seven days to try them on and decide what to keep. No forking over money upfront to have to wait for returns to process, and definitely no bad dressing room lighting to contend with. Plus, you get a deal if you end up keeping more items: 10% off three or four pieces, and 20% off for buying five or more.
Amazon isn’t the first company to let you try before you buy; sites like Lyon + Post let you try on at home from their own curated collection, and Try.com started with a few shops like ASOS, but now allows for “Trys” on any retailer that has a guest checkout option.
Amazon has been working lately to grow their apparel market share. Earlier this year, the company released Echo Look, their Alexa enabled camera that gives you outfit advice, takes hands free selfies, and helps organize your wardrobe.
The service is currently in beta, but you can sign up to be notified when it launches for everyone.
