Swarovski may be old school but the minds behind the venerable crystal chandelier company are definitely not. Their chandeliers work in traditional and modern settings; the crystals sparkle on jeans and t-shirts as well as on chandeliers. We're loving the latest collaboration, a modern take on the chandelier designed by Yves Behar.
Blending recycled paper, LED lighting and one of the famed crystals to maximum effect, this contemporary light blends the beauty of a chandelier with the practicality of a paper lantern to create a piece that is not only sustainable and low-energy but low-cost as well. The paper shade amplifies the properties for which the crystals are reknowned — creating the refractions of light that are responsible for the beautiful rainbows of colour they enable. Unlike many prototypes, these will be available in six styles, echoing the shapes of the crystal within, beginning next year.
