An Airy Modern Mix in Malmö

An Airy Modern Mix in Malmö

I spend a lot of time looking at beautiful interiors, but every once in a while I come across a space that truly takes my breath away. I'm in love with this airy modern flat in Malmö, in the south of Sweden, that somehow manages to get the mix of modern and traditional elements just right: it's minimal but not sparse, modern but not cold, and elegant without being overly formal.

The owner, Nina Bergsten, has filled her flat with antiques inherited from her grandmother (the tea set on the dining room table), finds from Paris flea markets (the oversized mirror), and even a few pieces from Ikea (the bed and the clothing rack).

I'm charmed by the little details...the shroud around the lamp, the single lightbulb on a wire contrasting with the intricate moldings, the airy Bertoia chairs next to the earthy texture of the carpet. If only my house had 14-foot ceilings. A girl can dream, right?
