I created my nursery after I was inspired by my babymoon vacation to Alaska. When you are pregnant in Las Vegas in the summer a cooler Alaskan vacation is more than welcome. A picture I took of Mt. Denali at sunset was the inspiration to paint an ombre mountain range on all of the walls of the nursery. The colors of the nursery I pulled from a spontaneous maternity picture my husband took while we visited the top of a glacier. I choose three blues and a warm gray and the top color is the same off-white as the ceiling. I didn’t want the room to be “themey” just fun so the rest of the decor was selected in blues, warm neutrals and wood tones.

The built-in daybed was a creation using an IKEA trundle daybed and building the floor to ceiling cubbies to engage the entire wall. It can function as seating while baby plays, a crash pad for those long late nights and it pulls out to a king (two side by side twin mattresses) for guests or future sleepovers. The cubbies make great storage for toys within our child’s reach with books, bed linens, extra pillows and displays up top.

The dresser is vintage and a DIY from five years ago that I planned on selling and ended up hoarding instead. I’m glad I kept it as it serves the nursery perfectly.

The beautiful crib was a gift from the in-laws and the wood color suits the dresser perfectly.

The boxes on the wall next to the glider were my attempt to do some fun creative book storage different from the heavily pinned books on a picture ledge.
