A DIY Anthropologie-Inspired Zip Tie Lamp Shade

Here's a great little DIY lamp shade idea that I've never seen before. Inspired by a display she saw at Anthropologie, Courtney Shutz from Point Reyes Station, California decided to create a gorgeous and unique lamp shade using a pack of 1000 zip ties from Home Depot.

Armed with her zip ties, some chicken wire, spray paint, and the rim off of a $4 clearance shade from target (oh, and her helpful husband!) Courtney set out to create her zip tie masterpiece.

I think it turned out fantastic, and I love the look created by the overlapping ties in different shades. You can even buy this exact shade for $38 in Courtney's etsy shop (lamp base not included.) This innovative use of the zip tie is sure to inspire many others. As Courtney points out on her blog, Little Glass Box, she is thinking about creating another version in shades of cream, white and gold, which would make a pretty awesome chandelier.

Trip to Home Depot, anyone?
