An Extravagant Vermont Vacation House Pool

After this week of gray-ish days, the weekend's arrival is more than welcome. Though my personal tastes usually lean toward the simple and rustic when it comes to vacation homes, I'm indulging in some high-end escapism by staring at this over-the-top indoor pool grotto, built into a Vermont hillside.

Featured in New England Home, the house and its cave-like indoor pool was built for a scientist and his family as a summer retreat. Built partway underground and using solar collectors on the exposed areas, the pool saves energy on heating, though I'd be hard-pressed to call such extravagance "eco-friendly." Though I'll surely be spending my weekend on a plastic lounger with my toes in the kiddie pool, this is where my imagination will be hanging out. See more images of the luxurious space at New England Home.
