I've said before, I'm a sucker for miniatures. As a corollary to that truth, I'm also fascinated by details, and the tinier, the better. So imagine the "Squee!" that escaped from my lips when I found this amazing handmade quiet book. The skill in the detailing is truly hard to believe. And it makes me want to spend hours making one of my own.
Jenya, a blogger in Russia, makes unbelievably gorgeous busy books. Not only will they keep a toddler occupied, they teach facility with all kinds of different fasteners: velcro, hook-and-eye, buckles, snaps, buttons, magnetic closures, laces, zippers... it's truly amazing how many different closures Jenya has managed to incorporate into these books. Some pages even teach knowledge, like the page that asks the child to match animals with what they eat.
The detailing on these books is so intricate and well-executed, they nearly seem like works of art. Click through the site to see many, many pictures of her creations and perhaps get some ideas of your own.
