An Urban Chicken Coop Turned Ceramics Studio

Lisa Neimeth is an accomplished potter whose studio just happens to be a renovated chicken coop. While we love our backyard chickens, it's good to see a structure originally designed for animals repurposed into such a cool space.

You may have seen Lisa's converted chicken coop studio before, as she's been featured many times in The New York Times, ReadyMade, and Design*Sponge. The studio is in the back of a 1886 Dairy Farmhouse in San Francisco near Golden Gate Park in the Inner Sunset district. All that was needed to transform the coop into a studio was a little light, water, tile and sheet rock, and now her pottery is primarily on display. (She designs durable tableware in order to have a connection to the community.)
