Shop Apartment Therapy’s Pattern of the Year Exclusively on Society6

On Thursday morning, Apartment Therapy rolled out our very first pattern of the year: The New Animal Print. Part vintage nostalgia, part updated take on zoomed-in animal markings, its something we’re predicting will only get bigger in 2019. (“It’s like the perfect marriage between accessible and out-there,” Apartment Therapy design editor Bridget Mallon wrote.)

In addition to scoping the print “in the wild” (sorry, had to), in-house illustrator Kath Nash also created our own version of The New Animal Print with three different, yet equally bold, background colors.

After making the pattern, we asked ourselves: what if we found a way to bring our very own AT version into your homes? At the end of her pattern announcement post, Bridget recommends ways both big and small to incorporate The New Animal Print into your space, from throw pillows to wallpaper. You can choose a framed version of the print in all three colors starting in mini (10″x12″) all the way up to a 26″x38″ gallery wall size. The unframed options start at $19 for a mini. While this print would work well with many existing gallery walls, we also like the idea of getting all three colors, framed or unframed, and creating a striking gallery of their very own.

Society6 can put a pattern on everything from wallpaper to a backpack. And getting our version on wallpaper is a dream come true–as Bridget wrote in her article, the Scalamandre zebra print wallpaper is one of the most iconic uses of New Animal Print. If a whole room is too much, it’s perfect for a statement wall, nook, or even to line the back of a bookshelf, like we recently spotted in a house tour.

Bathrooms are a great place to incorporate bold prints, which might seem counterintuitive since the space is often small. But smaller space means less stuff to coordinate with, making it a less risky way to go big. And here, The New Animal Print goes big–this is the largest scale version of the print. You can get the pattern in the same or different colors for coordinating bath mats and towels.

The priciest piece in the collection, we still had to highlight it here. The retro vibes of the pattern work so well with this MCM-inspired credenza. You can pick the finish of the legs (black or gold) and wood (birch or walnut). There are also less expensive furniture options starting at $159 for a side table.

Like the art prints, the pillows come in a variety sizes (as well as in every background), giving you endless ways to mix and match shape, size, and color. The print also wraps around the entire pillow, meaning there is no “wrong” side that can accidentally get exposed.
