Plain old coloring is so analog, you know? Since we are in the 21st century now, we should probably dial that up to digital. But we're not just talking about coloring on a iPad or using MS Paint. The new app ColAR lets your kids color a page and then animate their creation.
What we love about this new application is that it combines real world art with virtual magic. You have to print out any one of a number of coloring pages (an airplane, a mouse, a doll, a bird, and others) and let your child go crazy with crayons, markers, colored pencils or what have you. Then simply open the app and focus on the image and watch it come to life. Instead of continually staring at a screen, kids spend most of their time creating a piece of art, and then they can watch it magically move, fly, or dance in the app.
Coloring page choices are limited right now, but more are scheduled to be released (including a hot air balloon!). Visit the site to see a video of the app in action.
