Last month, Aaron over at Apartment Therapy New York posted about antique factory carts used as coffee tables and occasional tables from Restoration Hardware here. A reader just sent us a tip on a source for these great, industrial pieces for a fraction of the cost...

The carts at Restoration Hardware are in the neighborhood of $900, but over at Antique Cart Coffee Tables you can purchase these old factory carts in either original condition or fully refinished starting at $400.

A refinished cart is one that has been sanded down to remove splinters and most debris, stained, and then sealed with polyurethane for a durable long lasting professional finish. All metal including cast iron casters are removed, sanded down to bare metal then a solution is applied to reveal the natural patina of the metal resulting in an elegant antique finish void of rust. Customizations, such as replacing all the nails and nuts, adding a glass top, or staining to specific hues, are also available for a higher cost.

We love the look of these industrial carts, and this is a great way to get the look at a lower cost!
