Amid the rooftops of downtown New York and the excitement and glamour of New York Fashion Week, HP and Design Milk unveiled the inspired creations of five talented designers for the HP Designer Matchup Challenge.

Five popular blogs were paired with a designer (of the bloggers' choosing) to collaborate on designing a product using Adobe Photoshop CS6 and an HP TouchSmart PC (the same technology used on Project Runway). Each blog crowd-sourced its direction, concept and design, allowing readers to follow along and pitch in as the designers executed the chosen design. The partnerships and input from blog readers produced diverse, innovative, beautiful and lively results!

The five matchups were:

• Fashion designer and former Project Runway contestant Mila Hermanovski, paired with Jamie Derringer of design milk.

• Interior designer and HGTV host Emily Henderson, paired with Jeanine Hays of AphroChic.

• The designers of TUG Studio, featured interior designer from TLC's Trading Spaces and Bravo's Top Design Goil Amornvivat, along with architect Thomas Morbitzer, paired with Capree Kimball of Curbly.

• Jewelry designer Sarah Fox of Cursive Design, paired with Kelly Beall of Design Crush.

• The lighting designers of graypants, Jon Junker and Seth Grizzle, paired with Megan Reardon of NotMartha.

Many faces of design were represented at the Matchup Challenge, from jewelry to lighting - with a lot of inventive repurposing mixed in. Mila and design milk came up with a gorgeous gown based on a reader's poll, using Mila's signature chic mod aesthetic. Emily and AphroChic created three colorways of an amazing eco-friendly abstract floral wallpaper - which I'm thrilled to report will eventually be sold on AphroChic - gorgeous! Sarah and Design Crush made two beautiful art deco-inspired necklaces - I love that they're versatile - reversible and can be worn in several different directions. The studio of graypants and NotMartha made an exciting neon light installation out of repurposed bottles inspired by Amber Ale, creating stunning light. Goil, Thomas and Curbly made a "glo" planter out of repurposed trash cans, wood and wallpaper trays - of which my favorite part was my summer color crush - a pop of neon pink.

Each participant received the HP TouchSmart as well as the opportunity to go to the Project Runway Season 10 finale fashion show at Lincoln Center (jealous!). Check out each blog for more details on the five final Matchup designs.
