When you think of a "general store" you might imagine delightful little shops in small towns rich with nostalgia and locally made goods. Home furnishings retailer, West Elm, is bringing this charm and authenticity of a true community general store to a city near you. We were thrilled to be part of the launch of West Elm Market: Tools to Make Work Wonderful at their flagship store in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
Offering themselves as the "total home tool kit", West Elm Market features locally sourced products in the "Garden, Kitchen, Care & Repair and Personal Care" departments.
The beautifully styled store proudly showcases artisans from Brooklyn. With handcrafted knives and copper pots to jars of artisanal peanut butter, pickles and salted caramel, each product "celebrates the everyday" and promotes a strong connection within the local community.
From Gordy's Pickles: the Thai Basil Jalapeno's were a hit!
Our absolute favorite is the sinfully delicious Chewy Sesame Caramel from Spoonable...So Good!
While shopping, customers can indulge in freshly made sticky buns and coffee from La Colombe (a collaborator in the store's café). There's even a kitchen space for cooking classes and demonstrations.
