Kelly Colley, architect, who blogs at Colley Collogue, shared her summer style with us:
Sun or Shade?: Shade! Trees, canopies, umbrellas, towels, tents. Pick one. Shade's the key to maintaining a porcelain (read: perma-pale) skin tone. However, if you must sun, Hawaiian Tropic Baby Faces will keep you safe.
The Color of Summer 2010: I like to call it "ultra beige neon peach" (I'm looking into this color's Pantone existence)
All Time Favorite Vacation:
Hot Springs, Arkansas. (Favored enough to go two years in a row.) Here's a few reasons why: Lake swimming, Bathhouse Row, Hot Springs National Park, Historic Downtown, BILL CLINTON and digging for quartz crystals! Beware of insects and poison ivy.
Most Refreshing Summer Drink:
Pimm's Cup (Pimm's No. 1, Lemonade, Carbonation, Cucumber) is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I'm also very much into any and all cocktails with St. Germain. Favorite Non-alcoholic refreshment: Watermelon Agua Fresca and Coconut Water.
Planted In The Garden This Year:
Succulents. They're water-retaining plants, which just basically means that (accidental) neglect doesn't end in death--plus they look nuts.
Essential Summer Song for Party Playlist:
Janelle Monáe's Tightrope and all affiliated remixes
Best Book in Beachbag:
Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. It's no Hemmingway love fest, but it is more in tune with the vibe of summer 2010. Out with the sad, serious romance, in with the potpourri state of mind! Robbins is a fantastic storyteller. The novel (thus far) is upbeat and all about beets. Read it!
More to come throughout June, July and August!
