With swimsuit season right around the corner, it's that time of year when one might turn their thoughts towards getting in shape. Whether your goals are to look better at the beach or to be healthier (or both!), we've brought together these apps, which all work on both the iPad and Android, to help you make good on your goals.

5 Apps to Help You Get in Shape for the iPad & Android

Workout Trainer: One of the best free apps out there with thousands of free and premium workouts as well as the ability to schedule, customize, and track workouts. The instructional photos and videos are helpful, but one of the most fun parts of this app has to be the workouts recommended by the community. Free, Android & iOS

Fitness Buddy: Similar to Workout Trainer, this app also has many many workouts. One of the things that is different in this app though is the extended body metrics tracking which can be especially helpful for those with specific weight loss or muscle gain goals. $.99, Android & iPad

Pocket Yoga HD: If yoga is your preferred fitness route to better health, take a look at this app. In addition to having 145 illustrated poses, the iPad app also has Airplay and TV out support which is nice when you'd prefer a screen larger than your tablet to work out with. $2.99 Android & $3.99 iPad

Calorie Counter PRO/ MyNetDiary: Of course if you're looking to improve your health, exercise is only one piece of the puzzle, you've also got to take a look at what you eat! This app contains the calorie information for over 425,000 foods and has syncing to the cloud so that your food diary can follow you across devices. $3.99 Android & $9.99 iPad

Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal HD: Similar to the previous app, this one is free and pulls from an even larger database of over 1.2 million foods. The app integrates with the MyFitnessPal community so that you can connect with friends who are also part of the community and track and motivate one another. Free, Android & iPad

Weight Watchers Mobile: Speaking of community, here is the app from one of the original weight loss communities, Weight Watchers (yes, that same one featured in Mad Men). As you would expect this app integrates with the WW community and provides an easy way to track your PointsPlus for those who are subscribers. Free, Android & iOS
