Art Nouveau Meets Mod in Barcelona

Art Nouveau Meets Mod in Barcelona

This 1906 building is a gorgeous example of early 20th century Catalan architecture in Barcelona's Passeig de Gracia neighborhood. Painted ceilings and stained glass windows set it within the Art Nouveau period, while modernist furnishings give it an edge. A palette of whites, gray-greens, and lavenders holds these two contrasting styles together.

Wish you could live there? You can, for a little while, as long as you've got enough cash to spare. El Palauet is a holiday home that's been split up into 6 suites, each of them rentable for a couple of nights or a whole week.

Barcelona is full of rentable homes that fall somewhere between B&B's and private holiday homes. Although El Palauet is not a hotel in the traditional sense of the word, there's a concierge who works there and can organize outings, laundry services, babysitters, or car rentals. There's even a rooftop terrace with a private spa.

Luxury doesn't come cheap — the average nightly rate is around €700, and there's a two-night minimum. Hey, it doesn't hurt to dream and drool, right?
