Name: Carrie & Dara
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Your Pet's Name: Keisha and Iris, aka "Babydog" and "Minou"

When did he/she come into your life?: Dara found Keisha running the streets of LA one rainy night some five years ago. She was mangy and malnourished but very sweet and hopped into Dara's car without hesitation. Her ears had been home cut and we can only assume her life was not so hot up to that point.

We adopted Iris from the Best Friends Animal Society in Mission Hills, CA. We intended to adopt a kitten, but Dara was taken with Iris immediately and I liked her as well. She had a family prior to us, but they returned her after two months as she proved very unenthusiastic about the attention from their twin boy toddlers.

Where would we most likely find your pet in your home?: Keisha will always be where the food is. If there is no food readily available, she will be lounging on the couch, her bed, our bed and occasionally sunbathing outside on our back deck entrance.

Iris likes to curl up in the windowsill in the morning sun, move to the kitchen floor mats a bit later and then sleep on our bed or a desk chair the rest of the day. (Resting up for the inevitable 4AM - 5AM psychotic break.)

Pet specific features of the home: We really don't have anything fancy for the kids. Iris has string she likes to play with and they both love to play with the red laser beam. Keisha usually has two or three stuffed animals at a time with the eyes gouged out and missing limbs. Keisha has a big cushy dog bed, but Iris just makes due wherever and seems perfectly comfy.

What do you love most about living with your pet?: We both have always loved animals and it's especially fun to have animals together as a couple. We love the affection, the companionship and the laughs that come with having pets. It is possible that we speak as much in the voices of Keisha and Iris than we do in our own. They both need to clean up their vocabulary and not talk back so much.

Thanks, Carrie and Dara!
