Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: We moved here about five years ago, and saw the potential in what the home could be one day. My wife and I are both full-time workers outside of the home and were looking for a sanctuary to come home to. We made the most to maximize the space within these four walls to make it flow for our needs. Recently we started building out a nursery, and moved our guest room to the first floor. We’re having a little more fun in the rooms while keeping the living room, kitchen, and backyard very subdued.
We identify with having a flash-free, clutter-free space to rest our heads. The palettes in our home definitely lean more neutral, although we dial it up a little more in the guest rooms.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or fewer: A minimalist modern home in a traditional shell.
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite place is probably the kitchen. It was my first time drawing up and designing a space. We tried to do something a little different with the space and have gotten many compliments on it.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? We’ve bought a few things lately, as we’ve been designing out the nursery. But the last thing that I can recall are some fluted ceramic wall sconces that we used in the nursery.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Take your time, have a theme, and stick to it.
