Avery’s World Market

Name: Avery
Location: Washington, D.C.
Type of Home: 2 bedroom condo

Color Inspiration: For work and pleasure, I do quite a bit of traveling around the world, particularly in developing countries, and have brought back pieces with amazing colors and patterns. I wanted a room that could match the vibrancy of my souvenirs and bring out the rich colors in the exposed brick and hardwood floor in my main living area.

Give Avery a THUMBS UP if you think this room belongs in the finals!

World Market

Color Inspiration continued: I narrowed in on the piece with the most colors – a quilted wall hanging I brought back from Thailand – and tried to find a color that worked well with that piece as well as complemented the brick and wood features in this room.

Colors Used: Benjamin Moore Teal Ocean #2049-30
Benjamin Moore Dusty Road #1017

Color Tip: Trust your instincts! Find a piece of artwork you really love and gravitate towards – whether it is a wall hanging or sculpture or artwork – and find colors that will help make that piece pop. But also try to choose a color that complements the natural features in your room – like brick and wood – to create a unified look and feel.
