Mattress pads are a necessary evil and it's a rarity your find one that fits and stays put on your bed from night to night (without spending over $100). Instead of fighting the slippage and slack, try making your own custom fit cover with this quick and easy tip — guaranteed to put your nights of frustration behind you.

When you walk into a retailer to purchase a mattress pad, there isn't really a way to determine if it will actually fit on your bed. It's not a matter of it being the wrong size in regards to King, Queen, Full, Twin — it's more a matter of, what are the sides made of? Will they rip when you pull it down? It's such a fickle thing...

Instead, why not utilize a fitted sheet you know grips tight to your mattress and sew a mattress pad "top" onto it? After pinning the two together, a quick whirl around the sewing machine will have you sleeping in comfort without having to remake your bottom sheet every morning when it slides off!
