Awesome Salvaged Kitchen by WhyDesign

Ever wonder what a kitchen made from almost entirely recycled materials would look like? Design team, WhyDesign, cooked up just that using flea market finds and deconstructed goods. Take glimpse at their creation, and find out how they did it, after the jump.

WhyDesign was commissioned to come up with a concept space for BGourmet event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, an event organized by Brazilian kitchen appliances brand Brastemp. The concept kitchen is a real working kitchen and was designed using salvaged items from dump trucks, flea markets, thrift stores, antique shops and deconstructed buildings:

  • Recovered granite counters
  • Recycled doors clad walls
  • Hanging vintage furniture shelving
  • Recycled pallet flooring
  • White plate clad walls
  • A recycled petrol barrel sink
  • Milk crate credenza
