Name: Baby O (due July 2013)
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Baby O's nursery was inspired by things that we love for ourselves but don't get a chance to decorate with often enough: kid's books, robots, music, and things that feel whimsical and fun.

We painted the nursery green before knowing we were having a girl, and decided to keep it a mostly gender neutral space and allow her to develop her own preferences and tastes (hence no "themes").

The furniture and decorations are a mix of old and new. We tend to like mid-century modern pieces and wanted to keep that going in the nursery, and we're happy that we can use every single big piece, except for the crib, in another part of the house. The crib is Babyletto Hudson. The dresser and glider are West Elm. The toy chest is vintage from an estate sale. The diaper cart and wardrobe are Ikea, as is the shelving. Several of her toys are vintage from when my brothers and I were little (the old Steiff bear and giraffe). The others ones we saw and fell in love with - several of the stuffed animals we purchased while on our "babymoon" in Europe in December.

I also am drawn toward natural colors, hence the wood, white, fur rug, and natural greens with pops of color here and there. I was surprised how much I was drawn to pink once we started decorating - because it looks so good against the green! We also made a lot of the decorations ourselves: the mobile, the little houses lined up on the window, the cloud pillows, the "she is beautiful" banner, and two of the paintings.

Thanks, Jamie!
