Q: We are moving into a beautiful modern home, with an open concept kitchen and living area that features stained concrete floors. We also have a very active baby who is crawling, standing and will learn to walk in our new space. I'm obsessing over rug and rug pads in an attempt to soften the space for our baby, but I'd still like to maintain the beautiful aesthetic of the floors. Any suggestions?
Are there materials that will soften or absorb impact more than others? Are there specific colors that will be a better accent for the floors? In our current home, Hugo crawls easily on both the carpeted areas and the tiled kitchen floor, but somehow concrete seems harder and more dense. Is this just my perception? Any help is appreciated. (And anyone who is worried about the baby microwaving small objects can relax knowing that the microwave is on its own circuit and will be off most of the time.) Thank you for your help!
