Babylone: A Lamp That Lights Up & Freshens Your Space

Whether or not you believe that indoor plants can clean the air you breathe, just the simple presence of greenery can have a calming quality in your home or office. Even if you don't think you have the space (or time) for indoor plants, the Babylone pendant lamp might just change your mind. With its multifunctional design, you can light up and freshen up your space at the same time.

The Babylone, designed by Swedish "living furniture" company Greenworks, is a spherical plexiglass lamp with five openings to allow plants to drape out of the fixture.

The bottom of the lamp is lined with pumice, which contains minerals and micronutrients to nourish plants. Because of the pumice's high capacity for retaining water, plants need attention only once every three weeks (a handy thing, especially if you hang your lamp up high).

A variety of greenery can be grown inside the Babylone. Fill several lamps with air-purifying plants to help remove common indoor pollutants like VOCs, or even grow a cluster of fresh herbs for your own mini kitchen garden.
