In 2002 graphic designer Melinda Cox declared war on beige and the "law that said that eco-friendly products had to be spartan or boring." A former logo designer, she started Balanced Design to celebrate simple shapes and powerful colors. Using eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, linen, felt, hemp, and water-based inks, Balanced Design's modern area rugs, hand-printed fabrics and pillows are all printed in an old mill in Rhode Island and manufactured in Fall River, Massachusetts.
The line includes:
- 100% tufted New Zealand wool rugs, made in the USA
- Applique pillows on either organic cotton or linen
- Hand-printed pillows using water-based inks on linen
- Canvas pouches on organic cotton
- Hand-printed fabric
