Bamboo Dinnerware has Arrived: Shiraleah

Due to its renewable resource status, affordability, and anti-microbial qualities, bamboo's popularity has grown rapidly in North America. Although the FTC found several clothing companies cheating customers out of real bamboo with synthetic substitutes, bamboo dishes are hard to disguise. Shiraleah, maker of the elegant 100% recycled glass dishware, has a line of natural and deep red enameled bamboo dishware that is eco without the stigma.

In order to keep these bamboo dishes clean without washing away their beauty, here are some quick tips:

1. Try not to heat the dishes in microwaves or other warming devices. Bamboo is very susceptible to heat.
2. Try not to put bamboo dishes in the dishwasher. The cycles and humidity can cause the bamboo to mold.
3. Try not to leave bamboo dishes sitting and soaking in the sink because of both the possibility of mold as well as the bamboo 'loosening' over time, making the piece unusable for serving or eating.

Hopefully these quick tips will help the fast-growing bamboo survive the modern kitchen. Do you have any tips for keeping bamboo clean and beautiful?
