BASCA: Transportable Gardening

BASCA: Transportable Gardening

As I feverishly made my way around the seemingly endless maze that was this year's New York International Gift Fair, I more than once found myself seeking sanctuary in the transportable garden booth by BACSAC.

Born out of founders Godefroy de Virieu, Virgile Desurmont and Louis de Fleurieu's frustration with the difficulty and cost of building roof gardens in urban areas, BASCA was born. Weightless, flexible and easy to use, the pot units by this French company make for perfect moveable gardens - especially for those with small yards and roof spaces. Made from 100% recyclable material that protects the roots and also lets the soil breathe, BASCA pots are permeable so water can pass through, but strong enough to pick up and move around without tearing.

BASCA made its American debut at the gift fair this year, so we should hopefully see them in stores nationwide soon. They are currently available in select stores online. Visit their store page over on Marketplace to see their website and find out more.
