If You’re Missing Sports (Or Just Want Another Plant), You Can Buy a Baseball-Shaped Succulent on Etsy
Whether or not you love baseball, feel free to use the current absence of the sport to rationalize this unique plant purchase. Search “baseball succulent” on Etsy and feast your eyes on the available baseball plants that you can get shipped to your home ASAP.
Scientifically known as “Euphorbia Obesa,” the baseball plant gets its unofficial name from—you guessed it—it’s baseball-like shape and size during its younger years. Over time, though, the succulent grows longer and taller to take on a dome-like shape, usually becoming eight inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide.
But the plant’s remarkable color and pattern on its exterior stays the same as it ages. The outside is usually dominantly gray-green or blue-green with rust or purple-hued bands that create its plaid appearance.
By its succulent nature, the Euphorbia Obesa thrives in dry conditions, so it’s best to put the plant in a pot with at least one drainage hole. That way, when you do water the baseball plant, the moisture can exit at the bottom instead of potentially rotting the roots. Keep the succulent in partial shade if possible, and if you notice its plaid pattern starting to lose color, it’s a sign that it needs more light.
Multiple shops sell these baseball plants on Etsy, and the price generally ranges from around $15 to $40 (or you can buy the seeds for cheaper!). Think of it this way: That’s around the same price as nosebleed seats at a ballpark and lasts much longer than three hours.
