Looking for new bathroom towels? If you ask me, the most important factor isn’t what material your towels are made out of, their size, or their weight. Turns out, it’s all about finding something with a sewn-in hook loop. I know it’s a hot take, but let me explain.

My towels used to always fall off my bathroom hooks, collecting dust and shedding hair on the way down. It didn’t matter how nice or thick the towel was, I’d almost always walk into my bathroom with my towel crumpled in the corner—but a hook loop made that problem disappear.

It sounds like such a small design detail, but, to me, it’s a total game-changer. There’s something incredibly satisfying about walking into your bathroom and seeing your towel right where you left it instead of on the floor. Plus, it’s much faster to straighten up your bathroom if you hang your towels instead of folding them. If you’re short on space and don’t have a linen closet or room for a cabinet or shelf, hanging towels on hooks uses blank walls efficiently, too.

I got my towel with a hook loop from Havly, which uses loops big enough to fit on any hook or even a door corner and that come in a handful of fun, cheery colors. If you’re weird about a roommate, partner, or spouse using your towel (even by accident), these colored loops are a good way to keep track of whose towel is whose.

Luckily, other brands make towels with this key detail, so you’ll always be able to find a towel that’s cozy and fits your budget. If you’re able to narrow down your choice by whether or not they have a hook loop, it might actually make shopping for a towel easier. Where to start? Here are a few to consider adding to your cart.
