We thought we would end our month dedicated to creative reuse around the house on a warm note. These gorgeous throws and pillow covers are made from sweaters past their prime. By mixing an eclectic assortment of colors and textures, the blankets look gorgeous and intentional. In September, we looked at blankets inspired by sweaters, and now we are looking at the actual sweater-blanket! Learn more below the jump:
Old wool sweaters (and plenty of them) can make this a masterpiece. They are ideal for these types of reuse projects because they have a tendency to stretch out over time. These make great gifts for the Holidays and are fun to make if you enjoy sewing.
Check the instructions on Better Home and Garden's website to make your own. They provide detailed instructions on the steps for preparing the sweaters and the actual construction of the throw or pillow. So clean out those winter clothes before the snow arrives and see what sweaters can be upcycled this season!
