We moved into our home a little over two years ago. We were drawn to the space because the house had so much charm! Los Angeles is filled with a lot of new construction that feels really sterile, so this 1930s gem felt super special. Laurel Canyon is also a really unique neighborhood with a very cool bohemian vibe because of its rich music history and we loved that!
We absolutely love our house! It was built in 1936, and has so much of its original charm. It has the original floors upstairs, original windows, and an amazing old chandelier in the living room. We have a good friend who has lived in the neighborhood for a long time and I used to go to her house and think that if I ever bought a home, it had to be on that specific street. A couple years later, my husband and I found a listing for a house in our price range on that exact street, so we knew we had to have it!! My husband and I entertain a lot because we also have a really sweet courtyard in the back with a fountain and great outdoor furniture.
We decided to redecorate because we had a huge plumbing incident while we were shooting the “LadyGang” TV show in the house. (I’ll spare you the details!) We took the opportunity to not only redecorate, but also replace the floors with this dreamy Cle tile and new hardwoods with the help of our amazing designer Cory McCrummen! (I also fulfilled my dream of finally using California Closets for our laundry room and guest closet.)
Apartment Therapy Survey:
Our Style: Our style is eclectic. We really like mixing in vintage pieces with newer modern ones. We also like our house to feel casual and for everyone to feel really relaxed when that are in it!
Favorite Element: My favorite element is from our recent renovation and it’s the pink-andwhite Cle tile we chose for the entryway! It just feels so happy and light when you walk through the front door. I also love the four Society6 pieces in our master bedroom by Explicit Design; they really make that space.
Biggest Challenge: Our biggest challenge is definitely space. It’s a small house, so we have to be really good about organization and not keeping too much junk!
Proudest DIY: I’m not handy or DIY at all but Zach can fix anything in the house! He recently put up great floating shelves above our kitchen sink.
Biggest Indulgence: Biggest indulgence is the accessories in our house like luxurious candles and crystals that really make it feel like home.
Best Advice: Advice is to try not to kill your spouse during a renovation!
