Before & After: A Brown Bathroom, Fantastically Refinished
Karisa’s guest bathroom was not a disaster by any means, but it didn’t fit her dream look. She *almost* felt guilty for wanting to undo all the hard work that someone had previously put into the space. Still, it wasn’t so bad that she needed to do any demo, or spend too much money by starting fresh. So, Karisa decided to try a couple of new products and techniques and give it a new look…

This makeover is the bathroom equivalent of a manicure. Karisa and her husband didn’t need to replace any nails or whole fingers. Instead they cleaned and buffed, sanded off the old color, and then refinished the surfaces to a glossy shine.
Here are the details from Karisa:
With a Rustoleum Tile Refinishing Kit, I painted all the existing tiles white. With Ardex Feather Finish I covered the counters in concrete! Next came painting two walls and the ceiling white and one accent wall a blackened navy (Benjamin Moore Witching Hour). The final touches were made by replacing the light fixture with an exterior barn light from Lowes and replacing the cabinet hardware with sweet knobs from Anthropologie. The dramatic difference would stop me in my tracks every time I passed the bathroom! It’s so refreshing and bright that you want to keep the door open all the time!
