Many older apartments are heated by steam radiators and the pipes that run through the building can become very hot. In fact, they get so toasty that they can be a hazard for small children and crawling babies. Stephanie Lee decided to eliminate the risk in her apartment and came up with a great diy solution.
Stephanie was worried about this exposed steam pipe in the nursery. Not wanting small hands to get burned she asked around for estimates from local contractors on what it would take to cover the pipe. Not liking the numbers she got back, it was time to diy!
The end result is a box that was framed out from scrap lumber and covered to match the room. Vents at the top let the heat out.
