Before & After: A Tiny Transformed Garage

Who would’ve thought this tiny garage could be so glamorous? French architects Fabre/de Marien transformed this garage into a gorgeously modern 441 square-foot residence!

The garage was converted into single story, one bedroom, one bathroom residence. To maximize open space the bathroom, desk, couch, washing machine, mechanicals, dressing room, storage, a staircase and a bed on top have all been built into a single wooden unit. Additionally, while the structure consists primarily of floor-to-ceiling glass, it was also re-clad in vertical wood siding, some of which slides open to reveal a courtyard and shade the windows.

From the architects, Fabre/de Marien:

Inscribed within our methodology lies a belief that one should ‘build the city within the city’, by doing so, transforming the building fabric of existing commercial properties, storage depots, factories and residential buildings.
