Earlier this month when we moved into our new apartment, we weren't sure what to do with this built-in unit. Surprised by the multiple outlets, we thought it might be a good place for our TV or even our record player. After a lot of trial and error, we finally settled on a key organizational decision:

With the TV placed in the unit, the room felt too much like a hospital waiting room. The television was simply too high and too far away from the seating. We decided to ditch our large bookcase and put a lot of our favorite books inside the unit. I decided to color code the books to keep the eye pleased. I also wanted to take the opportunity to show off our globe collection. Although the bottom shelf is a bit low, we decided to keep our record cabinet where it was. What a perfect place for our little media unit!

With inspiration from one of my earlier posts, I walked the half-block to my local Paper Source and grabbed some fairly cheap wrapping paper and tacked it to the wall.
