Amy’s home office functioned just fine before. But, being located in a corner of her living room, she didn’t want it to feel temporary or look blah. So she tackled a considerable amount of mini and large DIY projects to add some stylish detail to this small corner.

From Amy:

This work space, which is actually in a corner of my living room, was in need of a makeover because I’d be spending a lot of time here and wanted it to reflect my style. Before, it was looking very drab and temporary, but now it has a lot more personality and inspires creativity, which is important for someone like me who blogs about DIY’s!

To make it more functional, I added shelves above the desk to increase storage space. Keeping with the theme of gold accents, I spray painted the brackets gold in addition to some of the other desk decor.

The diagonally striped wall was my solution to beautifying an odd wall and creating a striking focal point. It also draws the eyes up to the high ceiling, which makes the small space look just a bit bigger. It was so easy to create too since it only consists of black vinyl tape!

You can see lots of detailed up-close shots of this project makeover plus find links to all the DIYs to recreate this look in this post from Amy’s blog.

Thank you Amy!
