When I saw that this '80s classic was renovated into a kids bathroom, I almost didn't click through, but I'm so glad I did. This is one of those kids bathrooms that really doesn't feel like a kids bathroom. There are no fish themes, rubber duckies, or primary colors. The new space is sophisticated, functional and so much better than the cramped brown space it was before. As an adult, I'd happily bathe here all day.

Because of the overall house blueprint, the bath couldn't change shape or size, so Emily & Diane of Rehabitat Interiors worked with the existing floorplan, instead stripping it of its dated '80s identity and giving it a fresh modern life that maximized space and made it feel as open as possible. Here's what the bathroom looks like now:

Gah. That floor tile is everything that is dreamy and good in this world. The deep blue is so classic and what is it about blue that works so well in bathrooms? It just does. The floor is surrounded by refreshing white most everywhere else, and just a few hints of warm brass fixtures and organic decor.

Looks aside, this bathroom is also highly functional: storage abounds, with the long functional vanity drawers, recessed shelving that was carved out of an easy-to-overlook wall area, and the added leaning towel ladder. Here's what Emily and Diane have to say about their design:

We removed the closet to replace with open shelving, which helps open the space and prevent two doors from colliding. (See in mirror reflection below.) Also, a floating vanity gives the impression of a larger space and in this case, allows for a kids stool underneath. That and a few other little tricks like a huge mirror, and all white walls that flow seamlessly into the white tile make for a brandy new pretty bathroom.

Such a nice transformation! If you want to see more of the space, with all the lovely details, check out Rehabitat Interiors.
