My room makeover::
While our old kitchen was fine, it wasn't in the best shape. It was 30 years old, and the tiles were falling off of the backsplash. Every time I opened a drawer, chunks would fall out of the bottom. It was just pretty yucky.

We decided to remove the wall between the kitchen and dining room. Since the dining area was never used (but very pretty), we nixed it altogether and created a breakfast nook/drink station. While getting rid of a formal dining room may not be for everyone, it is so much better for how we live and entertain.

While we still have a few things to finish up, we are loving the new open space.
My makeover advice::
It will DEFINITELY take longer, and more money than you think. Everyone thinks it won't happen to them. But it will!
What I love most about my new space::
I love the openness. It's so great to now have a space where the entire house is being utilized. Before, with the choppy floorpan, we had two entire rooms that no one went in and so much wasted space. Now, the house is perfect for our lifestyle. And way better for entertaining.
