My room makeover::
My old flatmate moved out in August and took all of the furniture with her, leaving me an empty space to do whatever I wanted with! The place has a solid foundation but has obviously suffered a lot of wear and tear... not least of all, the stains on the carpet which I knew needed to be hidden! I wanted to give a light and airy feel to the place, as I consider myself to be somewhat minimalist in my approach to life, and I have always been inspired by Scandinavian style and design. Thankfully the style I like seems to be in fashion at the moment, so I was able to create this room while staying on a reasonable budget! And the best part is that I know I will still love this style long after the fashion has faded!
My makeover advice::
Make sure you know your style! It helps so much! Know what you like and what you don't like. Think about other people's homes that you admire or envy. Look at other areas of life where you might get a hint at what sort of style you have (clothes, art, etc.) and use that as inspiration. Also you can never go wrong with neutrals!
What I love most about my new space::
I live the open feel that the room has now. Everything is bright and airy, which especially important as this is the main room of the flat and it has the potential to get quite cluttered at times! But thanks to the open and neutral feel of the room it never feels overwhelmingly cluttered. It retains its sense of peace.
