- My room makeover::
- I am a college student renting a very small space. I wanted to furnish it in a way that would make it feel more like a small home and so that it would truly be mine. Most projects I did were DIY, such as the pillow coverings. I also used CraigsList to find the awesome rug(at a great price of $90!) that makes it much more cozy. IKEA was a huge resource in finding small decorative items, such as pots for plants, the shelf that serves as a headboard, and frames that make up the gallery wall. Many items are also thrifted, such as some frames and the hanging necklace holder. The shelf unit that sits on my desk is a DIY project!
- My makeover advice::
- To someone considering a similar project of trying to transform such a small space into their own, I would advise them to choose pieces that are both fun and functional! The more uses you have for a single item, the better, especially in tight quarters! And if the item is fun and works well design-wise in the space, the more likely you are to use it often!
- What I love most about my new space::
- The thing I love most about my space is that everything is functional and useful, while still adding something to the space visually. The necklace holder is a great example of this. The piece is super-functional, but also creates a sort of unique decor on the wall with the various necklaces hanging from it.
