My room makeover::
When we chose our rental house my only stipulation was we had to be able to paint. The house we chose was on a shady lot with lots of dark paint which for me needed to go light and bright.The room was then filled with thrift store furniture that I refinished and flea market art we collected during our two years in Germany. I only have three items in this room that were bought new. The sofa a, Macy's piece we bought years ago, the Ikea Stockholm rug and an Ikea Hemnes console we bought at one of our first homes. These pieces were in other rooms at our last house but this time worked better in the "Man Cave." Everything else in the room I bought secondhand meaning the entire room cost me less than $500.
My makeover advice::
I love a room that has a collected look so for me the joy of a room makeover is the hunt. Flea markets, thrift stores, antique shops, Craigslist are a great source for quality items at a budget price. Pieces that have a story and a history are my favorite finds.
What I love most about my new space::
I love that it is now light and bright and really represents our experience. Each item that we have collected over our travels reminds us of a time and place we have been so they not only represent this home but all our homes.
