My room makeover::
I knew this kitchen had some potential, but when I found Ultramarine Green paint at Lowes, I knew exactly what I wanted. Apartment Therapy had shown me some amazing two-tone kitchens, with top cabinets that visually recede, and I love the result I got with that technique. I painted cabinets and the entire room (Ultramarine Green below, Travertine above and on the walls and ceilings), waited for appliances to go on sale, and found that copper sink for a song. (Not pictured, a new black refrigerator in a size that fits the space much better!) Total cost: about $7,000. Timeline: just over a year.
My makeover advice::
Take your time but keep your vision in mind. It was easy to be distracted as time went on, but I had a clear picture of what I wanted it to look like and I'm so happy I stuck with the original design!
What I love most about my new space::
The colors, metal textures, and the warm, dark colors make it feel like comfortable and usable. I love cooking and entertaining here.
