These Are the Best Cities for Homebodies in 2022
Staying at home has been the new normal for the last two years, and for homebodies like me, it has been somewhat good to not have the pressures of constant socializing and being able to slow things down.
After plenty of time staying indoors, the team at Joybird were interested to see if some U.S. cities catered for home-loving folks more than others. Taking into account many different factors and using data on internet speed, remote work opportunities, food and grocery delivery, and more, they determined which of the 50 most populous U.S. cities are the best for homebodies. Does your city make the list? Here’s what they found:
Raleigh, NC, came out on top. With above-average internet speed, easy access to takeout and grocery delivery services, and affordable housing, homebodies will thrive in North Carolina.
Taking the silver medal as the second best city in the United States for homebodies is Tampa, FL. The study found that the Tampa excelled in many areas, with houses 33% bigger than average and 70% more food-delivering restaurants than other cities. Tampa homes generally have more private pools, perfect for spending all summer at home.
In third place is Nashville, TN. Nashville has the fastest average internet speed out of the top five cities for homebodies, and the city has large homes and yards. Taking fourth place is Pittsburgh, PA. The only one of the top five cities that isn’t in the south, Pittsburgh has affordable housing, fast internet, and plenty of food delivery services.
Rounding out the top five is Orlando, FL. The study found that for every 100K homes, 123 have access to a pool, making Orlando a great choice if you’re particularly fond of swimming or tanning. After doing laps of the pool, you can easily get food delivered to your door—Orlando is up there at the top for the most grocery and restaurant delivery services.
